Creation Care

St Paul’s Earth Keepers is teaching us to live more fully into our call to care for God’s creation. This ministry is about education, practical action, and stewardship—protecting the health of the earth and the resources entrusted to us, while offering guidance on what each of us can do, individually and as a church community. Our mission is simple but meaningful: to preserve the wellness of our precious earth and to empower our congregation with realistic, faithful steps toward sustainability. Together, we can care for creation in ways that reflect our values, honor future generations, and live out our responsibility as stewards of God’s earth.

Lay Ties to the Community

Many of our parishioners are very active in community outreach. Several members are very involved with the Friends of Monson Pond, a Lake/Pond association created to explore opportunities in studying and assist in community-based involvement to improve this water resource. One parishioner is a board member, fundraises and writes grants for the local Humane Society. Other members volunteer at the Food Banks and assist at soup kitchens. Retired teachers are involved in enrichment activities for senior citizens and in free income tax preparation. One parishioner is a longtime Shriners member. We also provide a bi-weekly meeting place for the local Rotary Club.

Outreach

St Paul’s has actively supported Outreach for many years. Currently our projects include…

  • Local Soup Kitchens
  • Five local Community Food Pantries
  • Catholic Charities
  • Hope & Justice Project
  • Episcopal Relief & Development
  • United Thank Offering
  • Homeless Shelter – On a weekly basis, we collect a variety of needed supplies for the Homeless Shelter in Presque Isle. In recent years, we also conducted a successful campaign to raise the funds needed to purchase a new commercial dishwasher, as well as the recommended dishware and flatware. Furthermore, we contribute to their financial support, as we can, throughout the year.
  • We are constantly aware of the needs of our community and recently aided in financially helping a large family when they lost their home to fire.

Fundings for many of these programs comes from special in-gatherings, fundraising, as well as appeals to church members for special projects.
